Volunteering options

ManAlive is actively recruiting volunteers from local communities.  Volunteers will be supported in training and offered opportunities for work experience, our opportunities  include the following areas:

  1. Brief Intervention Awareness Raising Smoking Cessation - aims to raise awareness of support for smokers who want to stop. 1.5 hour training 
  2. Brief Intervention Training Smoking Cessation – aims to help participants provide effective support for smokers who want to stop. 3 hour training
  3. Physical activity and Nutrition for Health - aims to raise awareness of the health benefits of taking adequate physical activity and eating a healthy diet, it will also five participants an understanding of how to use BMI monitors and body composition scales and how to interpret the results. 3+ hour training
  4. Man to Man - aims to raise awareness of prostate and testicular cancers, use of testicular model and general risk factors for male cancers. 1.5 hour training
  5. Vision Health - aims to raise awareness of cancer and give participants the knowledge and skills to use the Vision Health resource within local communities. 2-day training
  6. Health Fair Assistant Training - aims to give participants the knowledge and skills to inform the public about basis risk factors associated with cancer when working at health fairs and engage with them to increase awareness of basic health issues. 1 day training

All of the training options require supervision and guidance for participants at post training events and assumes that participants will support ManAlive in community based activities.
